One of the topics that Kareena is asked about all the time is her beauty regime and health tips. When discussing her favorite beauty products, she states that “Cherish” MAC lipstick and “Improper Copper” MAC blush are two of her favorites. When it comes to beauty pencils, she loves Chanel Kohl pencils in black and tells readers that she can’t live without it. Other favorite beauty products of Kareena include Lorac Eyeshadow in moonstone, Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick, and Chanel Quadra Eyeshadow.
Kareena admits to not wearing makeup on a daily basis. However, when she steps out on the town, she highlights her features by lining her eyes with Black Kohl. She is also a huge fan of the smoky-eyed look and finds Yves Saint Laurent’s eye pencils to be her favorite. When it comes to lipstick, she prefers to use a pale shade of pink, instead of bright colors.
When it comes to tips and tricks of the trade, Kareena says that her eyes have never failed her. She focuses on making them pop. For a night out on the town, the will accentuate them with a shimmery silver or champagne eyeshadow. She notes that MAC’s Viva Glam V lipstick will work with anything. She also is a strong believer that you should use a bronzer as opposed to blusher. She says that it gives her a dusky complexion, which she is a fan of.

Kareena credits her sister Karisma as her beauty idol. Since she was a small girl, she has never found her sister to appear anything less than fabulous. The actress follows a strict regime when it comes to her face. She uses a Lancome face wash daily. She also tries hard to avoid any and all creams, due mainly to the high chemical content of these products. She does however like to use Clarins’ HydraQuench Cream during the cold weather seasons, to avoid dry skin. Kareena doesnot do facials, She says “I donot believe in facials”.

Kareena says that her main tip to staying in great shape is diet. She is a vegetarian and says, “Apart from doing yoga to keep myself fit, I am a pure vegetarian. I do not eat meat and that has helped me a lot to keep fit.” Kareena officially transitioned to a vegetarian lifestyle in 2006, two years after she began dating fellow Bollywood star Shahid Kapur. Despite a breakup some years later, the actress has stayed on the vegetarian train. She also states that she drinks a lot of water everyday, which helps keep her skin hydrated and in great shape.
Kareena is an avid fan of yoga and does meditation on an almost daily basis. Ashtanga yoga and Power yoga are her favorites, as she finds them both to give her the workout she needs. The actress typically works out for about an hour per day.
Despite herself being envied by many girls the world over, Kareena has a soft spot in her heart for fellow actress Scarlett Johansson. She states that she loves Scarlett’s hair, face, and figure. She is also a big fan of Julia Roberts, stating that Julia always looks fresh.
For her movie, Tashan, Kareena was required to look glamorous and do a lot of her own stunts. Kareena felt that in order to do her work justice, she needed to lose some weight. It was important for Kareena to lose weight in a healthy and natural way, so she consulted Dietician, Rujuta Diwekar, since May of 2007. Diwekar confirms that Kareena lost the weight in a healthy manner by eating the right foods and working out the right way.

Kareena says “In Mumbai, my breakfast is muesli and milk or a chillah or parathas; no tea or coffee. While shooting for Tashan in Ladakh. I ate fresh fruit for breakfast and thukpas and momos for my other meals. I had pudina tea without milk. On the last day, I was allowed pizza as well. In Kerala, I had idlis and appams. In Italy it was risotto and pasta with gorgonzola; half portions though, not full.”
The results of Kareena’s weight loss were on display for her fans to admire. In fact, her svelte size zero figure became a topic of national interest. Kareena states that her amazing figure is attributed to 70% diet and 30% exercise. Kareena says “Rujuta has changed my perception towards diet and dieting. Rujuta focuses on nutrition, not calories. Amazingly, she likes to keep the nutritional value of what you eat, as compared to the calories consumed, high. I have learnt what she means when she says, “be smart about food” and still enjoy what you eat. She has taught me to eat well, eat right, and eat regularly.
The nutritionist understands Kareena’s work and lifestyle. She custom prepares two different diets for Kareena, one for shoot days and one for regular days. If she has to dance or perform, the diet is further tailored to the specific day for Kareena. Each meal is tailored and balanced to ensure the appropriate nutritional requirements for the activities of the day.
Kareena, who is a vegetarian, gave up her favorite meals consisting of parathas (which are fat enriched flat breads), cheese, pasta, and Chinese and thai foods. She currently eats a very nutritious vegetarian diet, consisting of fruits, yogurts, vegetables, salads, soups, and lots and lots of fluids. If shes on the go, or in a far off locale to film, she will take with her some peanuts, yogurt, soy milk, and packets of chana.
Kareena also believes in eating lots of green vegetables, like spinach, fenugreek, and broccoli. She says that she likes to eat healthy meals that contain lots of grains and she doesn’t cut down on carbs. She likes to eat every 2 or 3 hours, in small quantities. For dinner, Kareena will typically have dal, vegetables, curd, and roti or brown rice. Furthermore, she will always make sure to drink six to eight glasses of pure water each day.
Fitness and exercise is another important part of Kareena’s regime. She is a believer in doing Surya Namaskars, which literally translates into, saluting the sun. This particular yoga exercise is believed to be helpful for the body and mind. It forces you to make full use of nearly 95% of all the muscles in your body. It helps to keep the muscles smooth and functional. It is most beneficial when done early in the morning, prior to eating breakfast. Doing 1 Surya Namaskar, is equivilant to doing 100 situps and pullups. Each repetition can burn 2.3 kilocalories of energy.
Payal Gidwani, who is Kareena’s yoga trainer, says that the actress has been known to do 50 to 100 repetitions of the Surya Namaskars per session. She would typically work out in each yoga session for about 1 and half hours. It would consist of a warm up, surya namaskar, yoga focusing on strength, Naukasana for her abs, bhujangasana for her back, Parvatsana for her arms, and Virabhadra for her legs. Upon completion, she will do cool down with breathing/meditation session. Kareena is also said ti have performed about 500 kapalbhatis every day which is a weight loss focused breathing exercise.
