Washing henna from the hair is a messy job especially if you don’t know how to do it. The best way is to stand under a shower. Donot rub or try to loosen the henna with your hands, let the shower water itself loosen and wash away the excess henna. Once most of the henna is washed away gently move your palms through the hair shafts to remove any leftover henna.

You may also hold your head under a tap of running water and use the same technique as above. Either way whatever is preferable for you. Use lukewarm water or normal room temperature water (if it is not too cold outside your home) to wash away your henna.

Avoid hot water for washing hair as hot water strips proteins necessary oils from the hair shaft leaving it dull and brittle.

When washing away henna, don’t be in a hurry, be patient the running water gently loosens the applied henna and washes it away, you just need to gently move your hair shafts around with your fingers so that the running water can rinse the henna properly. You will be done in a few minutes.

Henna should be washed away only with plain water and chemical products such as shampoo, conditioner, hair sprays, hair perfumes should be not be used after henna treatment. Donot shampoo your hair as shampoo removes most of the curative and herbal benefits that henna has imparted to your hair. Even a conditioner should not be used as henna itself conditions your hair. Conditioners are loaded with chemicals so donot use a conditioner after henna treatment.Let your hair soak in the benefits of natural henna, donot use any products for atleast 2 days after you henna your hair.
