How to extract blackheads

by mona on July 2, 2008

We should first understand how blackheads are formed. The oil producing glands produce excess of sebum. This oil collects in the pores and hardens to form a plug. This plug attracts dirt and turns black so it is named blackheads.

Blackheads causes the pores to be further enlarged and so people with oily skin have a coarse skin texture due to enlarged pores. Blackheads not only appear on the face, but also on back, chest and other areas that are rich in sebaceous glands.

The most important treatment for blackheads is cleansing. Use a mild medicated soap or facewash twice a day. See to it that you do not disturb the natural acid-mantle of the skin while cleansing.

Use a cleanser to remove the hardened sebum from the pores and keep the pores clean. Masks are also an excellent way of preventing and controlling blackheads. Masks remove the dead cells and deep cleanse the skin. They clean the grease from the pores so no excessive sebum is allowed to collect in the pores hence blackheads are controlled.

Donot try to extract blackheads yourself. Forcefully removing blackheads yourself can damage the inner layer of skin tissue. Also great care and hygiene are necessary during blackhead extraction. Various types of blackhead extractors or comedones are used in skin clinics, they should be sterilised and kept dipped in antiseptic solution to prevent infections.

The sebisper is a latest gadget used for the removal of blackheads. It works on the suction principle and helps bring the blackheads to the skin’s surface, after which they can be easily extracted. Chances of skin damage in this method are minimised. Daily care is the only way to avoid blackheads.
