Choosing the right color eyeliner is the first essential step in making heavy eyeliner makeup look great! If you have a light complexion and light hair, opt for a softer black or a shade of brown so that it matches your skin and hair tones. If you have darker hair, use a dark brown or black eyeliner.
To get a super sexy dark eye liner look, just follow these easy steps:
Begin by applying a neutral eye shadow over your entire eyelid and brow bone. Be sure that you blend the eye shadow in well with a soft round brush so there is no visible line and the blending looks seamless.
Use a darker neutral color, like a medium-brown and apply this eye shadow to the eye lid. Begin at the inside of your eyelid and move towards the outer crease of your eye. Don’t forget to blend this shade in as well.
Apply your liquid liner as close as possible to the upper lash line so that it covers the entire lash line completely. Try to apply a very thin line starting at your inner eye and slightly thicken this line while you move it to the outer eye. To make the liner thick apply a second coat of liquid eye liner. For this step, you will need to apply the liner from the middle of your eyelid and gradually thicken the line as you move towards the outer eye, to achieve a thicker, fuller look.
After application since the eyeliner is wet look down towards the floor for a few minutes to let it dry without smudging it.
Next apply the liquid eye liner just beneath your bottom eye lashes as shown in the photo above or use an eye pencil to line your eyes.
Lastly, apply 1 or 2 coats of mascara and a blusher. A red lipstick looks great with a dark eye liner. You may also use a lighter lipstick shade that will tone down the overall drama of the thick eyeliner makeup.

Gorgeous eyeliner! I’ve had so much trouble applying it like that in the past, but I think these tips will help me lots. :)
I usually use a gel liner on my eyes. I was told by makeup artists that it is the best thing to use to get a look like this, however it usually comes out clumpy on me. I think I’ll follow your advice here and switch to liquid. :/
Oh I love this tutorial! And the girl in the picture is so pretty. It does look like she did that lipstick trick you posted about where you make your lips look bigger than they really are. B-)
What a FABULOUS tutorial! Thank you for posting this. I ALWAYS have trouble applying eyeliner!
Applying liquid/gel liner is the trickiest thing for me. And I hate that because it really does help to sell the look and it has to be as precise as possible. Also, I have curly eyelashes that flip up and get in the way so it’s hard to maneuver the brush behind them. It messes me up every time!
