I recently learned about the author and her new book in the More magazine. What I read seemed good, so I immediately went out nad brought the book “How Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways to Look 10 Years Younger, 10 Pounds Lighter, 10 Times Better”. The author Krupp is the style expert for the Today Show and also the beauty director for Glamour magazine. This book is in a magazine like format with eye catching titles and prints. It gives simple fashion tips for middle-aged women well and is a morale booster to those wanting to change their ‘old’ look. The advice is of the ‘what to do’ and ‘what to avoid’ genre. It is presented in a simple straightforward fashion. There are tips for every pocket to suit. She is quick to point out that fashion of today’s teenagers looks ridiculous on older women. She gives the examples of bare midriffs, tattoos and weird coloured hair. There are also time and cost consuming tips like Botox shots, hair extensions, etc. Her advice is mostly fast fix and based on common sense. The author tells all elder women to deal with their old age by growing old gracefully thereby reducing their actual age and looking younger. Simple elegance goes a long way in resenting the picture of the mature young. Some of the great tips I got from the book include not wearing bright red or other ghastly finger nail polish colour, not wearing very long, baggy or floaty skirts, shopping for the right pair of dark wash jeans that fit you perfectly, trying bangs and highlights that work for a more elegant yet fashionable look, opting for plastic eyeglass frames instead of the wire ones and many more. Overall this is a very helpful book to look younger.
