Why Too Much Makeup is Not Beautiful

© Photographer: Fanny71 | Agency: Dreamstime.com

Makeup is that it is meant to highlight and enhance your beauty – not to cover it up. So, do not apply coats of foundations or you will scare off more people than attract. After makeup always see if the shade of your face and your neck are different or not, if there is a difference tone down your makeup accordingly. Choosing the right makeup and applying it with the right degree of moderation is the key to look good.

Similar eyeliner is meant to define your eyes and not frame it. It will make your eyes look smaller and less beautiful than they really are.

Wear pink! Go for a pretty pink on cheeks, eyes and lips for all over rosy, pretty glow.

Prepare your face by applying foundation and blend in thoroughly with your finger tips for a dewy finish.

Using a large blusher brush apply a baby pink cheek color if you are fair, a medium rose if you have medium to dark skin or fuchsia if you have ebony skin. Dust the blush on your cheeks. The dust the remaining blush on the brush lightly across your forehead, nose and chin for all over radiance.

Apply a pink eyeshadow on your entire eyelid and line the upper lash line and outer edge of the lower lash line with black khol.

Line the inner corners of the eyes with white shimmer eyeshadow.

Paint baby pink lipstick on your lips if you are fair. If you have medium to dark skin, paint on a rose pink lipstick. If your skin is really dark, then use a fuchsia lipstick.

Also paint your nails in pink too.

That’s it. You’ve got a pretty in pink look that is perfect for a summer romance.

Mineral Makeup – Why Use Mineral Cosmetics?

Makeup and Brush
© Photographer: Hlphoto | Agency: Dreamstime.com

Mineral makeup is composed of minerals that are extracted from the earth. They are first pulverized into a powered form and then sterilized so they are safe to use.

The makeup is a combination of zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and micronized minerals. Unlike many liquid makeup types, mineral makeup contains no talc, perfumes or dyes. There are no chemicals (which is a common cause of irritation and inflammation in the skin). Mineral makeup also contains natural iron such as iron oxides.

Prepare your skin with a primer

Prepare your skin with a primer before applying your foundation. It will even out skin tone, fill in the lines and keep your skin looking fresh. All you need to do is apply a pea-size amount before applying your foundation.

You can also make your eye shadow last longer by applying a tiny amount of eye primer on eyelids.

How to define your Lips

Sexy Lips
© Photographer: Amaviael | Agency: Dreamstime.com

1. Outline and define the shape of your lips using a lip pencil that has soft, pointed tip. Start at the V in your upper lip drawing down to the corners. Then, starting at the middle of the bottom lip and draw a line to the corners. To help lipstick stay longer, use your pencil to fill the lips entirely.

2. Using a lip brush fill in both lips with lipstick.

3. Dab gloss in the centre of your lower lip to create a fuller more glamorous look.

When defining the lips with a lip pencil be sure the pencil and lipstick colors are very close. Lip liners also helps keep your lipstick in place and prevents it from bleeding. Lip liners are meant to define the shape and help them look more natural. Do not try to change the shape of your lips by going outside the natural line.

How to Highlight your Brows

When choosing a highlighter choose a color that is reflective like a pearl white or cream white. The highlighter just needs to be applied in the area directly below the arch of the brow, this will draw light to that area, making the brows look more defined.

Eyes that Hypnotise

Gothic lady
© Photographer: Pepperbox | Agency: Dreamstime.com

Always desired those gothic eyes. You will want to brush plenty of black eye shadow onto your eyelids and below the eye area to give it that dark, mysterious look. Use an eyeliner, khol or a kaajal. For well-defined eyes, use a water-proof and smudge-proof product. Don’t overdo the goth makeup, but if applied correctly it should really bring out the natural color of your eyes and really help to give you a striking Goth look.

The most popular makeup style is the nude look. The idea is to look naturally prettier. Use bare colors to hide imperfections and to bring out your best features, subtly. No colors here.

Match Your Red Lips with Your Red Dress

It is tempting to wear makeup that matches the dress. But again simplicity is best. Only wear red lipstick if it absolutely matches the shade of the red dress. Otherwise go for a more neutral tone or a pale pink. The same could be said for nails. Natural shades of light brown, pale pink and flesh-tone are best for makeup.

How to Choose the Best Lip Gloss

Gloss and eyeshadow
© Photographer: Postolit | Agency: Dreamstime.com

Lip gloss which has flavor and aroma is always the best gloss to use on date night, in my opinion. Never use a thick coating. Remember that you aren’t the only one to be affected by the tastes and feel of the gloss. Flavored lip gloss is perfect for kissing, if applied lightly.

Define your lips

Lastly dab some concealer around the outside of the lip line. This helps your lips really pop and stay well-defined. The concealer will help correct any mistakes and prevent lipstick feathering. Blend the concealer out.

Make-up mess-ups

Use a lip liner of the same color as your lipstick. There should be no visible difference in color between your lip liner and your lipstick. Many women use a darker shade of lip liner to outline their lips and fill in the lips with a much lighter shade. This looks very unnatural.

Use brown blusher with caution. If applied generously it can end up looking as if you have got patchy skin with hyper pigmentation. Apply a very minimum amount to keep it looking natural. In case of brown blusher you require to use only half the quantity of what you use of pink and peach blushers.

Clumpy mascara are a big no-no. Use a lash comb to comb out the clumps when the mascara is still wet. Wait till it dries. Apply another coat if you wish and follow up with a lash comb.

Blush should be applied on the apples of your cheeks where you have a natural flush (the plumpest area near your cheekbones). If you have seen a different blush look in a magazine, don’t just copy it blindly. First check to see whether it suits you as it may look very unnatural in real life.

In your day to day look you need only 2 to 3 sweeps of lipstick to coat them properly and make them look natural. Slathering them makes them look heavy.

Foundation is meant to even your skin tone not erase your face. Use it only if you need it. Just dot some at the right places to smooth out the complexion.

Wear make up, don’t let make up wear you. Every woman wants to look attractive and appealing but going too far in this quest may make you look clownish and strange. If you wear a striking lipstick keep your eyes and cheeks soft, the same way keep your lips and cheeks neutral if you go strong on your eyes, for highly flushed cheeks go soft with your eyes and lips.

Eye Shadow Do’s and Don’ts

Are you not sure if you’re applying eye shadow the right way? Here are some must-know eye shadow do’s and don’ts. Eye shadows not only enhance the shape of the eye but also accentuate them.

Remember the golden rule of blending
When wearing more than one shade, make sure that the colors blend seamlessly.

When wearing a smoky eye, there is a fine line between sexy and looking like “someone punched into your face”. Make sure that you don’t cross the line. In case of smokey eyes little is more.

When using eyeshadow use the lightest shade under the brow bone to highlight it. Then apply the medium shade to the eyelid area, and accentuate the eyelid crease with the darkest shade.

While neutral colors like beige, chocolate, toffee looks great on all eye colors, caramel and gold shades make your eyes look very stunning and sizzling.
