For a long lasting lipstick use your lip liner as a lipstick

How frustrating it can be to have your lipstick wear off quickly. Not only does it make your lips look unattractive but you also have to keep on reapplying your lipstick again and again.

Lip liners on the other hand are transfer resistant and longer lasting though they cause a drying effect. This is due to the fact that they contain less moisturisers and oils as compared to lipsticks.

If you have soft, supple lips wear your lip liner as your lipstick.

If you have dry, chapped lips wearing a lip liner as a lipstick is not a good idea as it can further dry your lips. The best way is to apply some lip balm or lip treatment overnight so that you wake up with beautifully moist lips that do not dry or flake thoughout the day under your lip liner.

You Don’t need a Lipliner every time

Again and again you must have read the benefits of applying a lipliner but give this step a skip sometimes. Applying lipstick directly without defining your lips first looks sweet too and relax about filling in the edges too.

How to Get Perfect Red Lips

Smooth and well-conditioned lips are a must for any lip color. Apply a lip balm, then wipe it away or exfoliate them first.

Next, use lip liner. Start with the edges, then fill in the entire lip, which will ensure that the color last a longer time. Be sure to open your mouth so the part you miss will be visible. Make sure your “cupid’s bow” is well-defined.

Then, choose your lip color. Any red color that works well with your skin tone will do. Add a red or clear gloss if you wish. Gloss helps accentuate your mouth and give it a fuller look.

Lastly dab some concealer around the outside of the lip line. This helps your lips really pop and stay well-defined. The concealer will help correct any mistakes and prevent lipstick feathering. Blend the concealer out.

Soothe and Heal Dry Or Chapped Lips Naturally

There are many different types of chemicals in lip balms, and some people actually get addicted to them. Avoid using any lip balms with petroleums, vaseline, phenol, parabens, synthetic flavors.

Remember that whatever you put on your lips you are eating it throughout the day. There have been many estimates of how many pounds a day of lipstick, lip gloss, moisturizers, or lip balm women eat.

You may have read in the past to use Vaseline. But Vaseline is made from petroleum and do you really want to eat petroleum? Petroleum is crude oil. I would not put petroleum on my lips.

Lipstick Tips – How to Apply Lipstick Perfectly

By Sheila Dicks

The wrong color lipstick, heavy lip liner and lips that have been “drawn on” are common makeup mistakes that will ruin your overall look. Many women who are unsure of how to wear lipstick skip that step totally leaving makeup looking unbalanced.

Perfect looking lips are attainable and begin with an ideal lip line. You can have lips that look like a makeup artist did them simply by following a few important steps.

1. When applying foundation continue over the lips to provide a base for lip liner and lipstick.

2. Keeping your mouth-closed trace a fine line around the lips with a sharp pencil. A blunt pencil will make blending more difficult. Start at the v of the top lip and move outward to lip corners by making short strokes (rest your hand on your chin for better control). After you have penciled in the top lip, begin from the middle of the bottom lip and move outward also. Follow the natural lip line.

3. To make lips look larger follow the outer edge of the natural lip line making sure not to go over the natural lip line. To make lips look smaller follow the inside of the natural lip line.

4. Lipstick will stay on longer if the whole lip is filled in with lip liner before lipstick is applied. If you decide to use this technique, be aware that darker lip liner will darken the look of your lipstick. And, if you are going for a light look use a light lip liner.

5. Now that lips are filled in, apply lipstick with a lipstick brush (using a lip brush will give you more control). When lipstick has been applied, with lips closed, lay a tissue across both lips to blot.

You are ready to go, with perfect lips. Continue with touch ups during the day. If you are not used to wearing lipstick, it will probably take awhile to get used to having your lips done and not “eating” the lipstick. The plus to having nice lips, aside from the obvious, is you will never be plagued with dry lips again an over time they become softer. That’s certainly reason enough to take care of your lips.

How to Choose the Best Lip Gloss

How to Choose the Best Lip Gloss

By Alabama Merkett

There are numerous types of gloss; plumping lip gloss, glitter, color or no color and some even have flavors. This article will help you choose which gloss is right for you, even when there might be more than one choice. For instance, a night on the town might require different lip gloss than what you wear at work. Maybe you want one type of gloss for everyday, and a separate gloss for date night.

When choosing the best lip gloss, it’s important to know how the gloss affects your lips.

Plumping lip glosses work one of two ways. They either use a specific ingredient to cause a reaction on your lips, which makes them swell slightly, or they use an ingredient which fills in the lines on your lips and makes them appear fuller. When the gloss uses an ingredient, usually cinnamon, which swells your lips, it can cause a slight stinging sensation or you may feel as if you just ran cold water over your lips. This can be an unpleasant experience for some, and some, like myself, think they experience is refreshing. If the gloss is using an ingredient which fills the lines in your lips, for example collagen, the gloss may not plump your lips as much as it just gives the appearance of fuller lips.

A lip gloss that has sparkle usually contains glitter. Poorly made glitter glosses can leave small particles on your lips, which may be difficult to get rid of and can be inconvenient when applying another type of lip product. Additionally, using this type of gloss can make you appear older. Used on a daily basis, this product is best for younger girls, however, it is perfect for a night out on the town for any age.

Using a colored gloss can be very convenient. Keeping a colored lip gloss in your bag means you can leave your lipstick at home. A lightly colored gloss can be perfect for the workplace. Choose monotone colors, like beige or peach, stay away from pinks and reds, for the office. Additionally it might be helpful to keep a darker colored gloss for a night out on the town. While not as convenient, a sheer gloss is great for wearing any time. The sheer gloss can go over lipstick, or just add a natural shine to your lips for everyday wear.

Lip gloss which has flavor and aroma is always the best gloss to use on date night, in my opinion. Never use a thick coating. Remember that you aren’t the only one to be affected by the tastes and feel of the gloss. Flavored lip gloss is perfect for kissing, if applied lightly.

Choosing the best lip glosses is a matter of taste. You can read reviews of different gloss, and that may give you an idea of how that particular gloss works, but it may not give you the information that’s important in your decision-making. Knowing all the facts, about the benefits and detriments each type of lip gloss, will bring you that much closer to choosing the best lip gloss. When you decide to purchase your lip gloss, be sure to ask friends and family what advice they have and which products they like to use.

How to floss your teeth for a healthy smile

how to floss your teeth for a healthy smile How to floss your teeth for a healthy smile

Eight Darned Good Reasons to Floss Your Teeth
By Harriet Hodgson

“Remember to floss your teeth,” dentists say, but many of us forget their advice. Not only that, we don’t understand why we’re supposed to floss our teeth. We don’t know that failing to floss leads to a dental domino effect: tartar, plaque, gingivitis, periodontitis, and teeth falling out. Yikes!

Accordng to a recent Harris Poll of 1,000 adults 35 years old and older, 60% of those surveyed knew little about gum disease.
You may not know much about gum disease or even care about it. Many of us put flossing at the bottom of our “To Do” list. Here are eight reasons to put flossing at the top.

1. Flossing helps you to clean back teeth that are hard to reach, the areas between your teeth and under your gum line.
(www.floss.com/flossing.htm, “Flossing: A New Secret to Good Health?”)

2. Regular flossing helps to dislodge the 500 kinds of bacteria that thrive in your mouth. (www.MayoClinic.com, “Oral Health and Overall Health: Why a Healthy Mouth is Good for Your Body”)

3. Tartar, a major cause of bad breath and cavities, can start to build up in only 24 hours. Flossing, combined with professional cleaning, helps to keep these things from happening. (US Food and Drug Administration, “Fighting Gum Disease: How to Keep Your Teeth”)

4. Flossing helps to prevent plaque (bacteria) build-up in your mouth. (www.MayoClinic.com, “Oral Health and Overall Health: Why a Healthy Mouth is good for Your Body”)

5. Regular flossing helps to prevent gingivitis, an inflamation of the gums that causes them to bleed, swell, and turn red or redish-purple. (www.MedlinePlus, “Gingivitis”)

6. Untreated gingivitis can develop into periodontitis, a condition that causes your gums to pull away from your teeth. Flossing helps to prevent this from happening. (US Food and Drug Administration, “Fighting Gum Disease: How to Keep Your Teeth”)

7. New research findings suggest that regular flossing helps to prevent heart disease. “Researchers have found that people with periodontal disease are almost twice as likely to suffer from coronary artery disease as those without periodontal disease.” (American Academy of Periodontology, www.perio.org/consumer.mbc.heart.htm, “Heart Disease and Stroke”)

8. Daily flossing helps you to keep your teeth and your smile. (US Food and Drug Adinistration, “Fighting Gum Disease: How to Keep Your Teeth”)

Tape this list to your bathroom mirror, read it every day, and floss your teeth. Dentists recommend flossing after every meal. You’re the boss so get your kids to floss. Then everyone in the family can have a happy smile.
