It is undisputable that vitamins are very important in the human body. So it goes with the hair. If the body is well-nourished, the hair will also be healthy. Any kinds of vitamins helps in maintaining the metabolism of the body as well as hair growth and it also prevent the hair from falling. And so the importance of vitamins at every meal should not be taken for granted. The most important vitamins needed in maintaining the hair growth include folic acid, biotin, magnesium, zinc, sulfur and inositol. Having a balance quantity of these vitamins will result to better bodily functions, prevention from hair fall and regeneration of new hair. But, if you take so much of these, you will deal with a lot of health problems. So it could be better to take vitamins moderately. Or you better know the functions and importance of each vitamin so that you will have any idea how much quantity you may take to avoid mega-dosage. Let’s tackle each of the vitamins you will need for your hair.
Vitamin A
The very first is vitamin A because it aids in the production or reproduction of new sebum in the scalp. This vitamin also acts as antioxidant which means that it is one of the natural factors that pushes toxins from the body. When the toxins are pushed out of the body, the scalp could give space for the healthy cell to grow around the follicles. Having healthy hair follicles will prevent the hair to become brittle and dry. This process is very important because dryness of the hair will make it more brittle causing breakage and split ends and will soon fall off after two to three days. And that’s the beginning of hair loss. So when you notice that you have plenty of hair with split ends, your body just wants you to know that you lack vitamin A. By that time, it is advisable to eat food like eggs, spinach, cheese, meat, mild, fish liver oil, cabbage, carrots and peaches since these foods have greater vitamin A content compared from others. However, you must not intake too much of this vitamin because instead of preventing your hair from falling, it could be the primary cause of hair loss if it is abused.
Vitamin B
There are so many kinds of vitamin B but you will be assured that many of them are good for your hair like vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 is also known as niacin which greatly promotes circulation in the most oily part of the body including the scalp. Although this vitamin is essential to the body, the intake should be normal or should not exceed 25 grams a day because it will cause a burning sensation because the blood cells will undergo a certain dilation or oftentimes called niacin flush. And I am glad to say that this vitamin is found in brewer’s yeast, fish, meat, chicken, wheat germ and turkey. If the intake is moderate, it is essential for the hair growth.
Pantothenic Acid/ Vitamin B5
This could be the most common vitamin which can avoid the graying of the hair and would further reduce hair loss. This vitamin has the capability to maintain the color of the hair, which is normally black, and avoid hair loss. It could, oftentimes, be found in brewer’s yeast, egg yolks, cereals (whole grain) and other organ meats. And the recommended intake of this vitamin should not be more that 7 mg. If taken in moderate dosage in regular period of time, this vitamin could produce a radical change in the growth of the hair in the head.
Vitamin B6
This is yet another kind of substance which has the capability of preventing further hair loss. Because it helps in the production of melanin inside the body, the hair should remain or maintain the way it looks like naturally. This kind of vitamin could also be found in brewer’s yeast, vegetables, whole grain cereals, animal liver and egg yolks. The daily intake of this kind of vitamin should not be more than 1.7 mg. per day because it will surely create numbness to the feet and hand of the person. And just like vitamin B5, it also prevents further hair loss and preserves the color of the hair.
Vitamin B12
Obviously, this kind of vitamin is just like the other vitamin B family. Vitamin B12 can also prevent hair loss as well as the graying of the hair. Although graying of the hair is yet another sign of aging, vitamin B12 could make a difference. You just don’t have to go over 2 mg. of dosage everyday. Although, generally, vitamin B family is good for the hair.
Vitamin C
Usually, vitamin C acts as antioxidants to the body. And just like vitamin A, it also keeps the hair clean and healthy and is generally good for the health. In fact, this vitamin is not just good for the hair; it is also good for the skin because it allows the skin to regenerate faster. However, this vitamin is rather good for scalp circulation considering the fact that is should be taken moderately. Over-dosing with this kind of vitamin will not do any good and therefore, 60 mg. is recommended to be taken regularly.
Vitamin E
This vitamin is very well-known to prevent the signs of ageing. Well, in fact, that is true. Vitamin E eliminates the signs of aging such as wrinkles, stress and others. But one in its list is the graying of the hair which is also another sign of aging. Vitamin E preserve the natural color of the hair whatever it will be. And just like vitamin C, this vitamin also acts as antioxidant in the body. But it should be noted that this vitamin could also create high blood pressure if taken more than it has to be which means that mega-dosage of this vitamin could lead to further hair loss. It can be found in soybeans, nuts, green vegetables, vegetable oils and raw seeds.
Biotin or Vitamin B7
Biotin is just another branch of vitamin B family. This vitamin will surely take care of your hair loss problems just like any vitamin B family. Although, its specialty is to help produce keratin which is needed for the growth and health of the hair, vitamin E plays a great role of making the hair healthy. This kind of vitamin could be found in oats, walnuts, sunflower seeds, soybeans and green peas. And because researchers assert that this vitamin is vitally needed in hair’s growth, they are now mixed with almost all shampoos in the world.
Vitamins could be one of the simplest elements in the world; they are also of great importance to the body. There are so many things that vitamins could do. However, if they are abused, they could also reverse their effects to the extent of destroying the body who takes it. Everything should be taken with moderation even if it is a vitamin.
