Wondering Who Invented Lipstick!

Lipstick has evolved over a period of years, it is hard to give one person total credit for the invention.

In as early as 2500 BC it is noted that women would use crushed red stones to color their lips. Cleopatra used crushed beetles and ants to paint her lips. To add glimmer and shine to the lips, fish scales were added to the lip color.

During World War II became a household item for most women. Hazel Bishop a chemist, in 1949 perfected the lipstick we now use today. In the 1940′s she, experimented in her mother’s kitchen, finally inventing a stick of lip color that proved to be long lasting on the lips.

Three Vital Summer Essentials

Sexy summer girl on vacation
© Photographer: Lordalea | Agency: Dreamstime.com

Everyone is so excited to go at the beach and play under the sun. Here are some summer essentials to carry with while we enjoy under the tropical heat.

Hat – Shield your head before the sun can give you a possible sunbeam hit. So when you cannot stay away completely from the sun, make sure to always have this with you for some cooling fix.

Facial Spray – Give your skin a boost of moisture and help you stay refreshed all day long. It is best recommended to habitually spritz on some cool water on our face such as evain water spray or pukka rose water.

Sunscreen – After a long exposure under the sun, sunburn or tan is produced in our body. This is the inflammation of our skin caused from the ultra violet radiation. Aside from dehydrating our body, it leads to some scary wrinkles. That is why it is advisable to wear some sunscreen 30 minutes prior to sun exposure to be able to shield us from the striking sun beams.

Which natural beauty brand should you buy?

Not all natural skincare brands are equal. A jar of aloe vera cream from one brand may contain 1% aloe vera while a tube of aloe vera gel form another brand may contain 99.7% aloe vera. Both are labelled aloe vera products since they do contain aloe vera. Look at the list of the ingredients. See if they contain any fillers and thickening agents.

Facial Muscles – Your Personal Identity

Facial Muscles – Your Personal Identity
By Daniel Butler

People remember faces a lot easier than they can remember names, and when you start to think about what really makes your face “you”, there is little wonder why this is the case. It is this personal make up that everyone around you can easily identify as being you, and it only takes a quick glance for this recognition to take place.

Although we all feature this unique personal look, we all share the same basic facial build to display our emotions of happiness, sadness, surprise and unfortunately show the signs of aging too. Our face is made up of 21 different facial muscles which work together to display these emotions.

The facial muscles include:

Occipitofrontalis – These muscles cover the frontal part of the skull which pull the scalp back and raise the eyebrows. This also results in wrinkles forming in the forehead.

Procerus – Small pyramid muscle sitting deep to the superior orbital nerve which pulls down on the skin between the eyebrows.

Nasalis muscle – Compresses the nasal cartilage and comprises of the transverse and alar.

Depressor septi nasi – This muscle can be found between the mucous membrane and the lip

Orbicularis oculi – These muscles aid in the closing of the eyes

Corrugator supercilii – Another muscle which results in causing wrinkles in the forehead. The muscle pulls the eyebrow downwards to produce these wrinkles.

Depressor supercilii – Is an eye muscle however its actions are often disputed and are considered by dermatologists to be an assistance in the movement of the eyebrow.

Auricular muscles (anterior, superior, posterior) – 3 muscles which are found around the ears.

Orbicularis oris – The muscle surrounding the mouth consisting of a number of fibers to aid in movement.

Depressor anguli oris – A small muscle which aids in frowning.

Risorius – This muscle is the main cause of the smile, retracting the angle of the mouth.

Zygomaticus major – Drawing on the angle of the mouth at the corners further aiding in facial expression.

Zygomaticus minor – Inserts on the upper lip and again helps to raise the corners of the mouth leading to a smile.

Levator labii superioris – One of the broadest muscles in the face extending from the side of the nose.

Levator labii superioris alaeque nasi – This muscle dilates the nostril, elevating the upper lip enabling people to snarl.

Depressor labii inferioris - A small muscle at the lower part of the face helping to lower the bottom lip.

Levator anguli oris – Very small muscle rising from the mouth.

Like any muscle in the body when they are not used regularly they gradually deteriorate over time. As a result the skin loses elasticity which then causes wrinkles to form.

Slendertone Face is a non surgical face lift which exercises these facial muscles to keep them active and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Facial and Body Clay Masks -All You Ever Wanted to Know About Facial Clay Masks

Facial and Body Clay Masks -All You Ever Wanted to Know About Facial Clay Masks
By Danny Siegenthaler

Facial Clay Masks are part of a complete skin care regime and should be included at least twice a week in your daily skin care regime. There are however clays, and then there are high quality, premium cosmetic/beauty clays.

Argiletz clays are amongst the best clays on the market today. They are free from any contaminants and have many beneficial effects on the skin, making them ideal clays to use for facial and body clay masks. But what exactly are these facial clay masks and what do they actually do to your skin that is so beneficial? In this article we will take a close up look at facial clay masks, how they work, what makes them an essential part of your skin care regime and how your skin benefits from their use.

What are clays?

Clays are naturally occurring substances containing minerals, trace elements and nutrients. Clay is a part of most soils and gardeners the world over are very familiar with the properties of clay rich soils.

In the beauty industry however, clays are used in different ways, however, the properties of the clays don’t change, their applications however, do.

Argiletz clays are high quality sun dried clays that come from Argiletz, a region in France, where they are extracted at specific depths in areas that are free from contamination. They are quarried under strict conditions to ensure that their mineral content and purity is retained.

Green Argiletz clay for example is a bio-mineral, which is naturally concentrated, containing various mineral salts and trace elements including: Silica, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, selenium, cobalt, manganese and many others.

What do facial clays do? and How do they Work on the skin?

These mineral salts, trace elements and other nutrients listed above have a detoxifying, nourishing, restoring and soothing effect on the skin.

Clay is naturally absorbent and draws toxins from deep in the skin’s tissues, thus cleansing and detoxifying the skin. Its slight grainy texture exfoliates dead skin cells from the surface layer of your skin, while the nutrients contained in the clay have a toning and firming effect on the skin.

By adding plant hydrosols such as Melissa, Niauoli, Rose and others, the natural benefits of the different facial/body clays can be further enhanced.

Types of Clays used in our Facial/Body Clay Masks

There are many clays and types of clay, however in this article I will focus on what are arguably the best quality clays on the market today. The different Argiletz clays used in Wildcrafted Herbal Products’ facial/body clay masks.

Green Clay

The most absorbing of the Clays, Green Clay is generally used as a Face Mask for tissue repair, drawing toxins from the skin and to normalise excessive secretions of oil or sweat. Applied as a Face or Body Mask, facial clay masks cleanse, exfoliate, smoothe and soften the skin. Green clay is especially good at drawing toxins out.

White Clay

White clay is a mild clay used for normal skin. It has similar properties as green clay and is suitable for Face and Body Masks for young and sensitive or mature and delicate skins. Applied as a powder, White Clay is an excellent body deodorant and a natural alternative to talcum powder. White Clay is the Clay of Choice for use as a Hand Mask to soothe and soften dry hands.

Red Clay

Red clay is high in iron oxide, hence its colour, and helpful for broken capillaries, bags under the eyes and sensitive skin types. It is used for toning the bust, thighs, stomach and upper arms. Red clay is an oily, mildly absorbent clay and is used for Face and Body Masks in cases of dry, sensitive or mature skin.

Pink Clay

This Clay is intended for use in a maintenance programme for the face and body. The softening effect of Pink Clay refines the skin’s texture while toning the epidermis (outer layer of the skin).

Yellow Clay

Yellow clay is used for normal skin and has similar properties as green clay. This clay is derived from the iron oxide, Xanthoria Parietina. Yellow Clay is generally used for Face and Body Masks, particularly in cases where the condition of the skin and body needs revitalising. Yellow Clay is recommended for most skin types to restore tired and neglected skin.

Note: Be careful of coloured clays, there are many manufacturers that add dies to clay to produce artificially coloured clays, which do not have the same properties of effects and may well do you more harm than good. So choose carefully

What are the effects of Natural Clays on the skin?

As indicated above, Argiletz Clays are pure, mineral-rich clays that help detoxify, cleanse, tone and revitalize your skin when used in masks and/or in body/face creams. They also have a nutritive effect on the skin. It is important to choose the right facial clay for your skin.

How to use the clays?

The Earth Medicine Facial Clays should be used once or twice a week, prior to toning and moisturising, as a special cleansing skin treatment. The gel based clay blends can be used as a gentle, conditioning exfoliant scrub, whilst the cream based clay blends can be used as a mask to nourish, moisturise and hydrate.

Masks

The Cream based clays are designed for use as masks. Apply sufficient Clay Crème to the face and neck and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off in warm water.

Facial Gel Wash

The Gel based facial clay washes are designed for use as gentle exfoliant and toning scrubs. Simply moisten the face and neck with warm water and apply a small amount of Clay Gel and massage into a light foam for 2 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

What Are Flower Essences and Vibrational Medicine?

Flower essence
© Photographer: Kuleczka | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Eric Cech

The term ‘vibrational medicine’ is being heard more frequently these days, with many folks wondering what this new fancy healing technique might be. Vibrational medicine refers to the entire realm of healing concentrating on modalities that attune to, or transform, one’s energetic vibration – this includes flower and gem essences, and many other remedies. Yes, it sounds a little outrageous to some, but the more one investigates both the realities of both modern physics and ancient mystical religions, the more these healing techniques make sense.

One can imagine that all form, be it the earth, plants, animals, the stars – everything – is made of energy. Einstein proclaimed this in his famous equation: energy equals mass times the square of the speed of light. And all this energy is vibrating in particular patterns – that’s why rose looks like a rose, and not a caterpillar – the rose, like every other thing we can sense, has a unique vibration. Vibrational medicine works on the idea that you, personally, have a unique vibration. Your body, your thoughts and your feelings have unique vibrations. And the most healthy expression of this vibration might be somewhat different than your current state. AND, your vibration can be influenced by other vibrations.

Now lets imagine that we as human beings are also made up of, at some level, vibrational energy. If we take this a step further, one can imagine that our soul or spirit or whatever term you’d like to use here, has a vibration or etheric pattern of its own. Your ‘soul pattern’ includes your emotional makeup, and it directly influences your actions, choices, and perceptions of the world, both on a material and a spiritual level.

It turns out, as Dr. Edward Bach discovered in the 1930′s, that flower essences can alter our own etheric patterns. The vibrational imprint of a flower, prepared in water, can directly effect our own energetic makeup in a positive way. If you imagine that every emotion has a particular vibration, you can also imagine that vibration being affected or ‘tuned’ by the introduction of another vibration – that of a flower essence.

We’ll take the clear example of the use of one of Dr. Bach’s original flower essences, Impatiens. You can think of being ‘impatient’ as being a bit ‘high strung’, where nothing is happening fast enough, with an overall sense of anxiety. This can be thought of as a particular vibration common to many individuals of the human species, and it may also be thought of as not particularly pleasant or useful – a ‘stress’ one might want to alter or release. By taking the Impatiens flower essence, the vibration of the flower synergistically alters a particular vibration of the individual, resulting in a noticeable calming action for many people.

The use of the word ‘synergistically’ here is important: it has been found that each flower essence affects certain ‘soul patterns’ and not others. For example, if one is by nature, a patient person, one would not likely be affected by Impatiens flower essence. This is one of the many beauties of flower essence therapy – they are completely safe for anyone to take. An incorrectly chosen flower essence will likely result in no effect at all; there are no ‘side effects’ to be spoken of.

And this is a relatively simple case; one’s vibrational makeup may be affected by a particularly stressful early childhood relationship with one’s mother, and one could choose a flower essence to assist in the change or healing of that emotional vibration (Evening Primrose, as an example). There is clearly a great breadth of human emotion and experience, and as such there are a great many flower essences available. Often, individuals will work with several essences at once, either taking them each separately throughout the day, or mixing them into one clean dropper bottle from which to dispense this personalized formula.

While a few ‘formal’ guidelines are given, there are no hard-and-fast rules for the use of flower essences. You can simply begin with one of the ‘commonly’ prescribed methods, and explore creative ways to incorporate the flowers into your life as you see fit. Most flower essences can be used directly from the ‘stock’ bottle (the dilution level at which most flower essences are sold); a typical usage schedule is 4 drops in the mouth (or taken in a glass of water), 4 times daily. Because of the particularly dynamic nature of daily awakening and retiring, the most important times may be immediately upon waking, and just before going to sleep. The other 2 times may be before lunch and upon arriving home at the end of a workday – really, whatever times might best suit your daily rhythms. Frequency is really most important, so if you find opening the essence bottles many times a day a little challenging, sixteen drops can also be added to a water bottle and the water sipped throughout the day for a similar effect.

Flower Essences can be further diluted from the stock bottle to a ‘dosage bottle’ for regular use. One can add 1 or more droppers-full from the stock bottle to a clean 1 ounce dropper bottle and fill the rest, optimally, with spring water. Blends can also be made this way, adding 1 or more droppers-full from each flower essence to the 1 ounce dropper bottle, filling the rest with spring water. The receiving bottle should either be new, or boiled in water to remove old residue – because of the nature of flower essences, they can pick up etheric vibration left over. Also, whenever using flower essences from the stock bottle, be conscious of not touching the dropper tip to anything – your tongue, hands, another bottle, etc. – to help maintain the vibrational purity of the flower essence. Dilution of the essences will have different effects for different people – some folks consider the dosage bottle essences just as potent as the stock bottle, whereas others find different results. The different results may be due to the dilution methods, and the purity of the water into which the essences have been added. Use your intuition here, and be as careful and kind to the essences as possible when creating your own dosage formula.

Because flower essences work on an emotional level, sometimes described as the ‘soul level’, it is important to remember that changes may best be made gradually. Flower essence therapy has been most successful when the essences are taken regularly, most often for the period of about 1 month, for changes in ‘core’ emotional issues to be seen. Some essences, like Rescue Remedy, are blended to have an effect regarding a recent (minutes, hours, days) traumatic event. Yarrow Environmental Solution was created to offer protection from our modern environment on a daily basis, while not necessarily addressing personal emotional situations. Still other essences, like ‘Impatiens’ – used to calm an impatient aspect of personality – works fairly quickly in some cases. One user regularly felt the effect within 10 minutes while the impatience was still a significant part of his personality, with the entire personality aspect being slowly washed away after long-term use. So, in most instances, if trying to clear or change some significant part of your soul makeup, try at least a few weeks of regular use.

Ancient Egypt’s Beauty Secrets Revealed

Egypt
© Photographer: Luisafernandab2002 | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Janet Martin

Ancient Egypt has not only given us the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza. The beauty treatments and procedures that many of us are enjoying nowadays are in fact inspired or derived from the practices of the old Egyptian civilization.

It is not really surprising that Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony found Egypt as an interesting and intoxicating place. Although much of the perceptions of beauty that these two men had were influenced by their desire for the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra, it is safe to say that both Marc Anthony and Julius Caesar also found all Egyptians amazing because of their penchant for proper hygiene and beauty. Furthermore, women in Egypt were not the only ones who were concerned about the way they look and smell. Egyptian guys also fuss as much when it comes to their appearance.

In fact, scientists found that bath oils and other beauty implements were used as payment or wages, even to the lowliest of laborers. Moreover, cosmetics and other beauty-related products or ingredients, and not food, were the primary reason why ancient Egypt engaged in foreign trade. Here are some the beauty secrets from Ancient Egypt that can still be practiced even today.

Milk Bath

You must have heard of how AHA, or Alpha Hydroxy Acid, is important in exfoliating your skin. In fact, if you look at the ingredients of many skin products sold in the market today, you will realize that majority of them contain AHA. Queen Cleopatra, the epitome of beauty even up to the present, used AHA through milk baths to keep her skin soft and smooth as ever. It is a common misconception that AHA is a synthetic ingredient. In reality, however, this substance is naturally found in milk and other citrus fruits.

Since it would be quite wasteful (and expensive) to put gallons of full cream milk on your tub everyday, you can reap benefits of AHA in different ways. Surely there are bath soaps, bubble baths and lotions that contain milk to help you achieve the same effect as the milk bath enjoyed by Queen Cleopatra during the old days.

Honey Mask

Did you know that when mummies where excavated and examined, experts found that one food substance used on the bodies to keep them unspoiled was honey? In fact, many scientists believe that honey is one of the reasons why mummies of Egypt were preserved well.

Honey is not only beneficial in the embalming process. In fact, people who are alive and healthy can also make use of it to keep a clear and smooth skin. Since honey is a humectant, it can attract and maintain water, keeping your skin well-hydrated. You can use honey for your face, skin and hair. Just make sure that you rinse your face and body a few minutes after you put honey because you don’t want to stain your sheets. Moreover, always go for pure natural honey, otherwise ants and other insects will feast on you because of the sugar content found in low-quality honey.

Myrrh

If there is one substance that kept Egyptians, particularly those in the highest social strata, smelling fresh and clean, it is myrrh. This fragrant oil was prized because it has to be imported from other places. Egyptians used myrrh as an incense and oil to disinfect their bodies or clothing and to make their breaths smell good.

Botanical Oils

Researches have discovered that people during this time used over 21 aromatic oils to protect their skin from the scorching sun, keep them from smelling bad, and treat skin problems like stretch marks, wrinkles and probably even cellulite. But since it would be hard to secure the same recipes for lotions and creams at present, it would be better for us to just stick to the lotions and creams that are available now.

What you can copy from the Egyptians is their diligence and regular application of these lotions and creams. Incidentally, if you have problems with cellulite, you may want to regularly apply an anti-cellulite cream, such as Celrase, to help minimize the appearance of dimples on your skin. Tips And Tricks For A Radiant, Dewy Complexion

Beauty portrait of a woman
© Photographer: Dee* | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Danna Schneider

Have you pored (no pun intended, really) over the magazines and online gossip rags, looking at the pictures of beautiful actresses, wishing you could have skin that seems to emanate a glow from within, and reflects the light just right so that it almost looks as though she has an aura about her?

Well, there are several tips and tricks you can use in your skin care regimen as well as your makeup application routine that can help you achieve this exact look without paying big bucks at the dermatologist for weekly facials, acid peels or microdermabrasion sessions and the like.

You will see that there are, as follows shortly, several ways you can use your makeup application techniques as well as the makeup you apply to your face itself as a tool to getting yourself one step closer to that coveted luminous, fresh look.

The first tip is to use a cleanser that preferably has Vitamin C or some other sort of exfoliating and brightening ingredient in it. Other examples of exfoliating or brightening ingredients would be perhaps pomegranate seed, grape seed, alpha lipoic acid, a light alpha hydroxy acid if you are not too sensitive to these fruit acids, or even salicylic acid, which is in fact an exfoliating as well as brightening agent.

Basically, when buying a cleanser for the face, look for one that proclaims it is non-drying, yet contains some of these examples of light exfoliating ingredients that also contain some sort of a mild acid for exfoliating, which also helps to polish and brighten the skin at the same time. If you start your “slate” off right, then it can make all the difference when you apply your other techniques to make your skin glow later on.

It’s important not to get a cleanser that is too drying, or one that is filled with too many oils, because you want just the right balance to give you a glow, but not saturate your skin with too much surface oil so that your foundation seems to lay on top of the skin instead of blend into it as one.

Once you are done cleansing, thoroughly dry the face off by patting it gently with a towel. My next favorite thing to apply for maximum glow and that earthy, dewy natural look is a serum of some sort that also contains a gentle fruit acid, such as Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, which is also firming, or any other fruit or exfoliating acid.

This does not have to be the main ingredient, but you can look for serums that specify they are “brightening” or “illuminating”, as this usually indicates it has the right ingredients for the effect we’re going for.

I apply a thin layer of serum to the whole face, let it dry, then apply my normal moisturizing lotion with SPF over that and let that completely sink in as well before the other steps come into play.

Next to come is your foundation. Be sure to choose a shade of foundation that is not too dark, nor too light. You should hold the bottle up to your face and even test it out if you’re at a makeup counter where they allow you to test the colors right there to make sure that it suits your skin tone. I prefer the warmer shades, such as a warm ivory or bisque color rather than the shades with red undertones, which can lead to a ruddy look, or make a ruddy complexion look a bit more severe.

The fourth step in creating a luminous look is to either find an illuminating cream which is almost a sheer tint, or to mix a good moisturizer with fruit based acid or other illuminating ingredients, some may find even soy works for them, right with your foundation.

What I do is actually take my foundation, just a dot no bigger than the diameter of a dime, and put it on a sponge applicator makeup pad made especially for applying foundation, and then I add a couple of small squirts of my illuminating cream on top of it, and blend it all together in circular motions on my face until it is well blended into the hair line and along my jaw line as well.

If you’re unsure of what type of illuminating cream to buy, there are a few good ones made by common drugstore brands, and also as I understand it, there are some new ones that can be purchased at major cosmetic retail outlets if you ask for help. Just refer to what you are looking for as a sheer tinted illuminating cream, and they should be able to direct you to one or a few choices. All an illuminating cream does is to reflect the light and bend it in such a way that your face actually looks like it is in a softer light all it’s own.

Now that we’ve gone over the steps to getting a dewy complexion, let’s talk about getting into maintenance mode to make sure your skin stays in the best shape to create the best surface to create this look all of the time. Start off by making sure you exfoliate your facial skin well at least once, if not twice a week. One good pointer I’ve heard for women who like to make their own concoction is to mix sugar with a few drops of fresh lemon juice to get a fresh glow for little money.

There are even many good home microdermabrasion kits out there that help to exfoliate for a fraction of the cost of professional in-office services. Also, you may want to try an at-home do it yourself acid peel. There are some great gentle ones out there now that can be applied weekly that helps slough off the surface skin cells to reveal new, and yes, more radiant and glowing skin just below those dull ones that are ready to be swept away.

If you follow a careful skin care regimen and also apply the makeup techniques discussed here, you are sure to keep people staring at your gorgeous skin and asking what you did to get it for years to come!

Vital Wedding Planning Beauty Tips to Celebrate Your Inner Goddess!

By Jennifer Brook’s

Got a wedding day coming up down the road? If you have, have you started planning your wedding yet? If you haven’t, you will want to get going with the planning before long. Even if you have already started your wedding planning, have you made all of your beauty planning yet? Beauty preparation are an important part of planning a marriage, if not the most important part.

For that purpose, you will want to get going on making your wedding beauty planning right now.

When it comes to beauty preparations for your wedding, you will find that are a number of different steps that you will need to take. First off all, you may want to choose how you would like your hair and makeup to be finished. If you are also interested in having your bridesmaids’ hair be all the same, you may want to think about preparing out their hair styles as well.

If you find yourself having a hard time doing so, you may want to think about hiring the skills of a skilled beauty consultant or making “testing,” appointments at your local beauty or hair salon.

On the subjects of hair and beauty salons, if you need to manage appointments for you and the rest of your marriage party to get your hair done, you will want to assemble your appointments in advance. If your marriage is scheduled for “wedding season,” you will want to assemble your appointments as before long as possible, especially if you have your heart set on getting your hair done at a particular salon.

Smaller salons can only handle one wedding party at a time.

In addition to getting your hair done on your marriage day,you may also be interested in getting your nails fixed up too or having your makeup applied by a professional. If you are fascinated in getting your makeup professionally applied, you will likely have your make-up done right after your hair is.

As for your nails, you may be required to create an appointment in the days leading up to the wedding. If you or your bridesmaids need nail touchups, they can be done at the last minute.

One can only hope that things will go effortless on your marriage day, you will want to get ready for the unexpected. In terms of beauty and fashion, the unexpected may include a tear in your dress or the dress one of your bridesmaids, a stain, or too much sweating. For that reason, you may want to think about having an emergency beauty bag on hand and with you at all times during your marriage, particularly before the wedding ceremony takes place.

Scores of times, the maid of honor will be responsible for coming up with such a bag, but you still may want to make sure that it is completed.

As for the things that should go inside an emergency beauty bag, you may want to stock it full of everything that you consider you or your bridesmaids may need. Things that you will definitely want to stuff away into an emergency beauty bag include:

  • makeup
  • deodorant
  • hand lotion
  • hairspray or hair gel
  • a brush
  • a comb
  • extra bobby pins
  • a small sewing kit
  • emergency stain removing chemicals

Having these types of things and more inside an emergency beauty bag will reduce the number of unexpected events that may end up hampering your wedding day.

The above mentioned beauty preparation tips are just a few of the many that you will want to make.

As a matter of fact, beauty preparation tips are just a small amount of the ceremony planning and arrangements that you will have to make. For instance, it is necessary to make a choice of the location and venue for your marriage reception, a band or a DJ, a wedding cake, and so forth.

With all of the arrangements and arrangements that need to be made, you may want to think about hiring the services of a professional wedding planner or at a minimum buying a marriage ceremony planning guide, this will essentially give you a very detailed sort of checklist for you.

I’m Jenny Brook’s. I hope that you enjoyed those wedding beauty tips! If you would like to learn more essential wedding planning tips and advice about wedding ceremony planning pay a visit to http://weddingceremonyplanning.org.

17 Beauty Tips For an Evening of Dancing at the Clubs

Woman night out
© Photographer: Andresr | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Brian Ankner

It sucks to spend a great deal of time primping for a celebration only to have your curls plummet lifeless in addition to your makeup fade away before last call. The same makeup MO will not invariably work for each daytime and hours of darkness. Here are a few expert tricks that can keep your face looking gorgeous round the clock.

Start with Vigorous, Hydrated Skin!

Makeup used on top of dried out skin can flake right off, therefore you must exfoliate to begin with. Then, prep your face with a silicone-based moisturizing primer. This can fluff up your skin and offer your make-up an even base to apply onto for a perfect appearance.

Shine Your Body!

Make your skin look amazing in a very revealing dress or top by exfoliating from the neck downward. Since your back could be a laborious-to-reach place, utilize an extended-handled loofah brush. After that, make certain your newly polished skin glows for hours with a spray-on body bronzer (check in the mirror for unwanted lines)

Ease Up On Your Thick Base!

A full face of base can look cakey and freckled as the night goes on. Plus, soft lighting is very forgiving therefore you do not need that abundant coverage. Simply hide imperfections like below-eye circles, zits, and any redness close to your nose with concealer.

Pick Face powder Over Cream!

Cream blushes and bronzers are apt to slide off, particularly in a very warm, congested area or if you’ve been dancing. A matte powder formula, on the other hand, will stay put whether or not you work up a sweat

Get Your Glow On!

Candlelight – that can be found at any vacation soiree -is superflattering. Utilize it to your advantage and blend a bit of highlighter on your cheekbones, brow bones, and over your cupid’s bow. The sparkle particles will catch the glow therefore your face will look radiant.

Prep Your Lids!

Keep your eye makeup from sliding down your face by applying a shadow base initially. Don’t have an eye primer readily available? No worries: A creamy concealer or sheer foundation can do the trick.

Create Statement Eyes!

Representing a sultry appearance that accentuates your face, try a cat eye. Use a tiny, rigid brush to outline your higher lash lines with black shadow (it won’t budge). Next expand the line a half-inch beyond your outer corners and flip up toward the top of your eyebrows. Moderate the line and hide mistakes by mixing a metallic grey silhouette above it.

Secure Your Lip Appearance!

One drink of champagne and you can kiss your lip gloss good-bye. A better option: Put on 1 coating of a creamy matte lipstick, then dab with a hankie to pull off the surplus pigment. This can leave a lasting discolor on your lips. Complete an extra layer for a deeper color, and make an effort to not rub your lips concurrently later. Or else, the colour will blot.

Polished cheeks!

Ever notice how your face appears to get ruddy as the day goes on? Nervous tension and caffeine ingestion can create further redness by causing blood vessels to engorge and swell underneath the skin. So don’t pile on additional blush – just brighten up your primary shade with a sweep of gold shimmer dust.

Radiant cheeks!

Chances are, you are already rosy, since you are obtaining a lot of heart-pumping movement (like dancing) than throughout the week. Play up your inherent glow with a hint of cream blush on top of the apples of your cheeks.

Tawny cheeks!

Regulate to the dimness of your environs with a more remarkable blush than you’d put on during the daylight hours. But apply it before you go out. Nightclub light tends to be cavelike, so you could overdo it by accident.

Glistening skin!

When the sun goes down, it’s prime time to attach with guys. Meaning you’ll wish to reveal a little more of yourself, skin included. To really glow, put on shimmer dust on strategic places – the brow bone, cheekbones, as well as décolletage.

Polish Your Ponytail!

This standard style could be dressed up for sundown and should look glamorous all evening. Tease the hair around the crown of your head, mist with hairspray, then draw the rest straight to the rear at eye height. Seize a tiny section of hair from the pony and twist it around the elastic, fastening it with a bobby pin.

Fluff Up a Straightforward Updo!

A messy bun or knot is nice for a night out seeing as the more it loosens up, the better it looks. Work mousse into damp hair to cause some grip and hold, afterward blow-dry (use a diffuser if you have got straight hair). Collect everything into a low hanging ponytail, leaving the tail in a loop together with the ends sticking out. Decorate with a sparkly hair accessory.

Build Up Lifeless Hair!

Forestall thin hair from losing its liveliness by misting wet roots with a volumizing spray. Then, blow-dry your strands while employing a small, spherical brush to raise up your roots. Halfway through the evening, flip your head over and revive your roots using your fingers.

Keep Curls Lively!

The most effective manner to party-proof your curls is to choose a curling iron that is one size lesser than the waves you desire. Your curls can look tight at first, however they’ll soften slightly while not looking droopy. It’s also a good idea to spritz each segment with a thermal setting spray before you twist it round the iron for further hold.

Smell Amazing for A long time!

Lengthen the staying power of your scent by applying it to your pulse points (wrists and neck). These areas give off warmth to unharness the aroma. And since dehydrated skin cannot hold onto scents well, rub on a moisturizer beforehand, or a perfumed gel to hydrate and smell appealing.

Eliminate One Ingredient From Your Diet For Beautiful Skin, Better Health and More Energy

White sugar
© Photographer: Photosoup | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Cherise McClimans

We’ve all wanted to know the secrets of the stars, how do they keep their beautiful skin, great bodies and seem to have tons of energy? I’m sure most of the time we just assume it has to do with picture editing and plastic surgery, but there is a “secret” that helps quite a few of them tremendously.

What is this secret, this one ingredient that can make us age faster, feel sluggish, have poor health and decreasing bone mass? Sugar. Let me explain how it works.

In 1986 the average intake for sugar was 26 pounds per year, that sounds like a lot but not too bad. In 2008 the average intake for sugar by Americans was – brace yourself – 120 pounds of sugar per year! That is an entire person, that is not what we call eating sugar in moderation.

Sugar in moderation is not likely to hurt you, but because it’s in so many products now, from breads, bagels, candy, cake, pasta sauces, cereals, etc. we are taking in too much of it.

Sugar depletes your body of vital nutrients for keeping your organs healthy (remember, your skin is the largest organ of your body). It blocks proper absorption of Vitamin D, it soaks up calcium that your bones need, it robs your body of magnesium, chromium and copper. With these essential things being taken or blocked from your system none of your organs are going to be functioning at their best, the elasticity of the skin is going to suffer tremendously and you’re really doing your body a disservice by continuing to intake so much of it.

What other conditions can sugar cause or contribute to?

  • A.D.H.D.
  • M.S. (Multiple Sclerosis)
  • Has been linked to multiple types of cancer
  • Can cause yeast infections
  • Diabetes type 2
  • Poor concentration
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Depression
  • Vision problems

And that’s just the short list. There are over 80 conditions that sugar plays a big role in. As you can see, getting rid of this one ingredient can be incredibly beneficial for your beauty and general well-being.

But like I said, it’s in almost everything, so how do we go about taking it out of our diets? The easiest way to do it is to make your own foods, fruits, vegetables, protein etc.

Until recently there hadn’t been any information on how much sugar should be consumed in a day, Dr. Oz has recommended 25g of added sugar or less per day, how do you know? If a serving size says over 4g of sugar – don’t eat it. Natural found sugars in dairy, fruits, vegetables etc. don’t count in the daily sugar intake, but you still want to limit your fruit servings to no more than 3 per day.

I guarantee if you do this you will feel better, look better, and have more energy!

Live long, live happy, and treat your body right!

7 Beauty Tips For Acne Prone Skin

By Janice Wee

Acne. Boy do I hate it. Those pimples popping up all over my face back in my teenaged years. Even now, I do get acne outbreaks when I am stressed, or use the wrong skin care product. I’ve been to many doctors who are able to clear my acne, until the next outbreak.

Part of the reason is oily skin. Greasy skin that traps dirt and skin debris clogging up pores make your skin pores an excellent breeding place for bacteria. The bacteria multiplies and voila. You have acne.

All is not lost. If you have oily skin that is prone to acne, here are 7 beauty tips to help keep the pimples away.

1. Keep your HANDS off your face.

You hands, after touching so many things, opening the door, picking up a bag, things we do everyday, are covered with bacteria. The last thing you want is to put that bacteria on your face. Touch your face often with your hands, or worse still, pick those pimples with your fingers, and you will see the pimples multiply.

2. Keep your HAIR off your face.

If you have oily skin, you probably have oily hair. Oily hair brushing against your face adds to the oil. Oil, sweat and skin debris are a great way to clog the pores in your skin, leading to more pimples. If you notice pimples appearing on your forehead, or your cheeks and chin, typically where your hair might brush against, your hair could be the culprit. Wear a hairband, use hair clips to keep your hair off your face, tie it into a pony tail, or get a hair cut.

3. Wash your face 3 times a day with a good acne cleanser.

I got that tip from a doctor. I washed my face when I woke up, at lunch time and at bedtime with a cleanser that is meant for skin that has acne. My skin cleared when I stuck to the routine and used only skin care products meant for skin with acne. A bar of soap meant for washing your face does the trick just as well.

4. Stick to acne skin care

Every time I stray from that point, I end up with a major acne outbreak. Always. Everytime I see my pals with exceptionally radiant skin, I want to use whatever they use. I would switch to richer, anti aging skin care as a preventive measure, worried about wrinkles appearing when I get older. That backfires every time. I end up with more pimples. Stick to good acne skin care products.

5. Relax

Did you notice how pimples tend to appear more before a stressful event. Exams. A big date. A presentation. Stress wreaks havoc on your skin. Ok, pimples can also pop up due to hormonal imbalances, like just before your period.

6. Sleep

Your skin heals itself when you sleep. Your entire body heals itself in your sleep. A night without sleep may lead to more pimples. Make it a habit to leave your worries behind and get a good night’s sleep. Work out more earlier in the day. Get some exercise before evening. It helps.

7. Stay away from pressed powder compact.

Yup. You heard me right. I got this tip from a friend. Her friend used a pressed powder compact to hide her acne. Instead, the more she used it the worse it got. Just think. By mid day, your skin gets oily. You take out the powder compact, and use that powder puff to apply pressed powder on your face. Now, your face would already have dirt, bacteria and oil on it. Pat your face with that powder puff and now that puff picks up the dirt, bacteria and oil. You put it back into the compact. The bacteria happily breeds in there. Then you take out the compact again and pat more powder, mixed with oil, dirt and bacteria onto your face, picking up more gunk, putting in more gunk into your compact. The cycle goes on. A better bet would be to use blotting paper to blot off the excess oil instead. Then you can throw the paper away after use. Use the blotting paper meant for your face like the ones found at http://www.everythingbeauty.info/blotting%20paper.htm

About this powder puff thing, make it a point to wash your powder puff and all your make up brushes regularly, with soap and water. Then dry them completely before you keep them. Guess that would make it an 8th tip right?

Oily, acne prone skin needs a lot of care. The bright side is that oily skin is slower to show signs of aging than dry skin. Take care of your skin and you’ll probably look younger than your peers as the decades go by.

Top Beauty Tips For Brides and Models – Perfect Skin

Girl and lots of fans
© Photographer: Nejron | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Olesya Novik

Being an esthetician, makeup artist, former assistant to a cosmetic surgeon, and a self-proclaimed “beauty junky” have all proven to be surprisingly helpful in my career as a fitness trainer and nutritionist. The majority of my clients have, at one point or another, asked for beauty tips that I’ve luckily been able to provide.

And while I do get skin care, makeup, and cosmetic treatment questions from people with varying fitness goals, no one has more beauty questions than the ladies from two specific groups of my clientele: Those getting married, and those preparing for photo shoots.

After answering countless questions asked by my brides and models in regards to everything from breakouts, enlarged pores, and ashy skin, to Botox and lip plumpers, and on to longest lasting foundations, waterproof concealers, and preventing mascara smudges, I’ve noticed quite a few trends.

Since so many of you have similar concerns, I’ve decided to compile these questions into a series of articles outlining the basics of what you need to know to look amazing on your special day.

Having a flawless complexion can make or break not only your photos, but also your confidence. In this edition of top beauty tips, we’ll talk about the skin. By the time you’re through this article, you’ll have a good understanding of how to choose and apply everything from your primer and foundation, to shimmer and blush – and even how to make your pores look all but invisible!

Let’s get to it!

  • How do I deal with redness? What if I have rosacea?

If you’re naturally prone to getting flushed when nervous, hot, or exercising, you’re definitely likely to turn red on your big day – the nerves, the running around to get ready, it’s the perfect storm! There are a few ways to alleviate redness, and the common denominator here is to do your best to relax!

Once you’ve taken a few deep breaths to calm down, try the following: Pour 1/2 cup of whole milk into a shallow bowl, and put in the freezer for 5 minutes. Dip a cotton washcloth into the milk, and put it over your face as you lie down to relax. Keep it on for 10 minutes, and the redness should subside.

For the rosacea sufferers (or those with persistent flushing problems), there are creams that can help. My top recommendation is Avene Anti-Redness Rich Moisturizing Cream, but you may want to experiment to find what works best for you. And don’t forget, staying away from sodium and alcohol are a given here.

There are ways to tone down the redness with makeup, as well – all you’ll need is a green-based primer or powder. My pick is the Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Primer in Green.

  • I tend to break out last minute! What can I do to get rid of a pimple fast?

The fastest natural, do-it-yourself way to get rid of a zit is by using 100% pure tea tree oil (apply it with a cotton swab, directly onto your breakout). Your other option is benzoyl peroxide. And the fastest option of all, is a cortisone injection – which will require a trip to your dermatologist (and a needle).

If you get a pimple on the day of your big event, you’ll most likely have to cover it with concealer, and just forget it’s there – chances are, it’s much smaller than you think it is, anyway. Besides, it’s much easier to photoshop a small zit out of a photo, than it is to change your frown into a happy expression. Don’t let a breakout ruin your day!

  • My skin is dehydrated and ashy. What do I do if my dry skin flakes?

You’re really best off preventing your skin from ever flaking in the first place by using highly moisturizing creams and staying well hydrated on a regular basis. Oil-based cleansers are best for you, as they’re completely non-drying; look for squalene and hyaluronic acid in your skin care products, as both of these are great at bringing the much needed moisture into the skin.

Moisturizing masks are highly recommended for you, as well. You can purchase pre-made ones (my favorite for dry skin types is Pevonia’s Rejuvenating Dry Skin Mask), or make natural versions at home.

Here’s a recipe I like: Combine one egg yolk with 1/2 mashed avocado, 1 Tbsp honey, 1/2 mashed banana, and a few drops of whole milk. Apply to your face, and let sit for 10 minutes. Wash off with warm water, and repeat. After washing off the second time, apply your moisturizer. Repeat at least once weekly.

If you still manage to have super dry, peeling skin on the morning of your shoot or big event, the best thing you can do is soften your skin by steaming it for a few minutes (you can stand over a faucet with hot water running), then exfoliate using a gentle scrub or a washcloth. Once you’ve done that, apply a moisturizing mask (the recipe above will work great!), and follow the procedure outlined in the previous paragraph.

  • I love that “glowy” look J-Lo made famous, but I have naturally oily skin. How do I get glowing skin without shining?

Unless you’re doing an artistic shoot and deliberately going for the “shiny” look, any shimmery powders or even dewy foundation products should be off limits. You want full control over which spots of your face will be glowing or reflecting light, and the only way to achieve this is by precise placement of shimmer on your face.

You’ll want to use matte products (yes, even if you usually dislike these!) as the base. Matte foundations, blush, bronzers, and powders. Any shimmer can look like grease if applied inappropriately or in too many spots at once.

Now that you’ve applied all of your makeup and are looking nice, matte, and flawless, grab a subtle highlighter in liquid or lotion formula (your selection is important; my personal favorites are MAC Gleam Coat and Halcyon by Illamasqua), and very lightly apply a small amount to the outside of your cheekbones, inner corner of your eyes, and the top of your nose bridge (make sure it’s ONLY the top of your nose bridge, not your entire nose!).

Go over with your matte powder, and you should have just enough glow without looking shiny.

  • I’m pale and want to look tan, but without the damaging UV rays. Got ideas?

You could use a self tanner; the trick is finding one that won’t make you break out OR turn out orange, splotchy, streaky, or otherwise fake looking. Gradual tanners (like Jergens Natural Glow) are usually a pretty safe bet, but if you plan on using them, you’ll have to start at least a week or two before your big day, and experiment with the color to make sure it does, indeed, look natural on your skin.

The best tip I can give in this scenario, however, is to find a pro to do the job. Airbrushing salons are everywhere these days, and all you’d have to do is scrub well before heading in, wear loose-fitting clothes to your appointment, and not shower for 6-8 hours afterward. You’ll have a fabulous tan for your shoot, and it’ll be completely stress-free, to boot!

  • I have huge pores and a rough complexion that’s visible with my everyday makeup, how do I make sure it looks smooth in my photos?

As in many other scenarios, you’re best off taking care of your skin year-round to keep your pores and skin texture as smooth and refined as possible. Some of us really are predisposed to enlarged pores, but keeping them clear will help them remain as small as physically possible. Consider using retinol-based creams and kaolin-based masks regularly to de-clog pores and avoid stretching them out.

Avoid pore-clogging products (look for “non-comedogenic” on everything you put on your face), and use gentle scrubs regularly, without overdoing it. Consider a Clarisonic brush; these are known for refining skin’s texture.

Having said all that, some of us really do find ourselves battling enlarged pores, just to find they’re still showing through our foundations; many liquid varieties actually pool in the pores, making them even more pronounced! What’s a girl to do?!

Simple: Find a good primer and a good, long-lasting, matte foundation. Many primers out there are completely ineffective, but I do have a few favorites, including Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel, Becca Line and Pore Corrector, and Illamasqua Matt Primer.

As for foundations, I highly recommend getting a few samples of SPF-free and titanium dioxide-free formulas (either of those ingredients may result in a grey reflection in photos). My top photo shoot foundation recommendations are Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, Cinema Secrets foundations, ERA spray foundations, Christian Dior Full Mat, Yves Saint Laurent Matt Touch, and a few others. Just be sure to ask for samples first to ensure a proper color match and that the consistency works with your skin.

Just one other important tip while we’re talking foundations: Be sure to match your foundation to your neck or upper chest rather than your skin! It’s too easy to look like you’re wearing a mask when your face color doesn’t exactly match your neck and decollete! Apply your foundation to your neck and blend it out on your chest and possibly even shoulders, if they’ll be visible as well.

  • How do I make my makeup stay put?

There are a few factors to consider here. Firstly, you’ll want to apply everything in layers. Use a cream blush right over your foundation, go over it with a powder blush, apply your contouring bronzer (and any highlighter, if using) over that, and go over everything with loose powder.

If you’re the type whose blush seems to evaporate no matter how many of layers of it you pile on, try a cheek stain. There are plenty of options out there, Tarte makes a great cheek stain in many shades, and Benefit recently came out with my new favorite stain product in a perfect pink color, called Posietint.

Once your makeup is fully applied (eyes and lips included), your best bet for the longest-lasting finish is to go over it all with a make-up setting spray such as Make Up For Ever’s Mist & Fix or MAC’s Fix+ spray. Once dried, you can apply another light coat of setting powder, and you should be good to go for hours!

Lemon Juice – 6 Beauty Tips from a Sour Puss

Fresh lemon
© Photographer: Kornwa | Agency: Dreamstime.com

By Danielle Sims

Mother Nature has been supplying us with many beneficial ingredients to help you stay beautiful for centuries. One ingredient that can be used for beauty and health is fresh squeezed lemon juice. Lemon juice has many uses in food preparation such as cakes, meat marinades, and of course as a delicious refreshing summer beverage. It also has a variety of uses for beauty as well. From head to toe, this juice provides many benefits. Here are 10 uses to keep you looking good:

Healthy Fingernails: Soak your fingernails in lemon juice for about 10 minutes. Then brush your fingernails with a tooth brush or nail brush using a mixture of 1/2 white vinegar and 1/2 warm water and then rinse with warm water.

This treatment helps your fingernails stay strong and bright and you will be surprised at how shiny and amazing your fingernails look!

Get Rid of Blackheads: Rub lemon juice over the area of your face that has blackheads right before you go to bed at night. Rinse your face with cool water when you wake up. Repeat this procedure every night until blackheads are gone.

Brighten your skin: I remember as a little girl, I liked to crawl around on my bare knees on the carpet and outside. My knees became rough and darker.so my grandmother would rub half of a fresh lemon on my knees to brighten and soften them up.

You can use fresh lemon juice on any area of your body, including your face to brighten up and soften your skin. Simply rub a fresh lemon on this area before you go to bed at night. You can also add 1/2 cup of fresh juice to your bath water and soak for 20 minutes for an all over treatment.

Hair Conditioner: Dull, damaged hair will benefit from lemon juice by combining 3/4 cup Olive Oil, with 1/2 cup raw honey and 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Set the mixture aside. After shampooing your hair, towel dry your hair and work the lemon juice mixture in your hair by combing it evenly throughout your hair. Then cover hair with a plastic cap for a 1/2 hour. Shampoo and rinse this conditioner out of your hair.

Add Blond Highlights to your Hair: The all natural alternative to hair dyes and bleach is to use 1/4 cup lemon juice and 3/4 cup water mixed together and applied to your hair. Sit in the sun for 25 minutes for lighter colored hair.

Breath Freshener: The citric acid content of lemons is a powerful killer of odor causing bacteria. You can quickly freshen bad breath by squirting a few drops of lemon juice into your mouth, swish it around for about 15 seconds and then swallow it.

There are plenty of ingredients that you have at home and you can use to create your own beauty products.

Here is a collection of tips and tricks to make you naturally beautiful:

- Make a homemade beauty facial scrub from grapes. Mash a handful of grapes. Strain them to separate the pulp from the juice. Remove the skins and mash the pulp and juice with 1 tablespoon of almond flour.

- Make a homemade hair rinse. Use Aloe vera gel to thicken your hair. Massage it into your scalp then leave it for 15 minutes before rinsing.

- Make a homemade beauty facial mask with sugar and oil. Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with a few drops of olive oil for a sweet facial exfoliant. This can be mixed in larger quantities for full body exfoliation.

- Make a homemade beauty facial mask with honey and bananas. Make sure the bananas are not overripe. Mash 2 teaspoons of ashed banana, 2 teaspoons of rolled oats, 1 teaspoon of milk and 1 teaspoon honey. After 10 minutes, massage it into your face. Allow it to sit for 5 more minutes and then rinse with warm water.

How do scrubs work? The scrub, when on, is a king of peel. The dead skin cells adhere to the slightly dried paste and are removed by the friction created when you gently massage it over your face. The result is a healthier looking and refreshed skin.

If your skin is dry and easily irritated, don’t wash more than once a day. You may risk stripping the skin of its natural oils. Dr. Franks recommends looking for non-irritating cleansing washes that are soap-free, moisturizers that are light, oil-free, and water-based to help maintain the skin’s natural barrier.

For a skin softening bath, add 1/4 cup honey to the water, and 1 teaspoon of lemon.

And more:

- Make a homemade beauty facial mask with apples or pears. Add the piece of fruit to one tablespoon of honey.

- Make a homemade moisturizing exfoliant. (do not use in your face) In an air-tight jar, mix together the sugar, the salts and the coffee granules (the concentration of the ingredientes is not important at this point, just experiment with different quantities) Add in the oil. Rub all over your skin in the shower, and then rinse off thoroughly. The mixture will naturally become quite oily. Next, pat the skin dry with a towel.Your skin will be soft and smooth.

- Make a homemade moisturizing whitening bath for your nails. Get a bowl with plenty of lemon juice as to cover your nais. Clean your nails, removing any polish you may have on. Dip your nails in the bowl, and keep them there for two minutes. Rinse your nails and apply hand lotion for best results.
