And this routine should be followed seriously and steadily. There are just four simple steps to follow in doing a daily skin regime: the cleansing, the toning, the exfoliating and the moisturizing.

1. Cleansing

It is the first thing to do in all skin care routine because during cleansing, not useful substances will be removed from the skin such as dust, grease, pollutants and extra oil. These substances needs to be removed from the skin before doing any of the skin care routines because they may cause reaction to skin care elements that will be applied on your skin. Cleansing includes spotting of the skin with a good cleansing cream or lotion accompanied with a gentle upward massage on the skin. You may also use soft tissue or cotton to wipe your skin in a gentle patting manner, rubbing is absolutely out of place here. This process should be done at least two times a day; in the morning as part of complete skin care routine and in the evening. 2. Toning

In all the skin care routine, toning comes right after cleansing. However, this process could be optional because proper cleansing could compensate this process. Henna or the so-called mehndi is another form of art which include the adorning of the hands or feet with a paste made from bush of henna (lawsonia inermis). This bush usually grows in hot and climatic lands like that of Pakistan, India, Persia, Sudan, Syria, Morocco and even Egypt. This bush was very popular in these countries due to its ability to cool bodies just by simply applying dots to the palms. Over time, people began to draw some patterns using henna which became so popular that it has been transmitted from generation to generation up until today.

The most popular henna is still used in any parts of the world today. But tracing its origin, the use of henna as an art is about 5,000 years old. It was believed by most of the artists that henna plant has originated from Egypt and the artistic display of skills of its first artists can be found on the mummies dating back to 1200 B.C… The purpose was just to stain the hands and feet of the pharaoh before their remains were mummified. The art was brought to India by Moghuls during the 12th century.

The traditional and conventional use of henna was just to draw on the hands, feet or dye the hair. However, much people are not satisfied with that. Therefore, they began a revolutionary art by drawing some patterns on their back, upper arms, belly and legs.

Henna was traditionally used during wedding ceremonies wherein the hands and feet of the bride are decorated with beautiful drawings. Usually, floral designs are used for women. On the other hand, bridegroom’s hands will have to bear some decorations too.

There were three cultures which used henna in different ways:

Arabic style: The signature of this style is large patterns of floral designs. It is and evident that today’s Arabic paintings and textiles have floral paintings large enough so they could be noticed in their own little yet magnificent art.

Indian style: The signature of these two cultures is like Asian styles; tear drops, peacock, pansies, lotus, lines and some small patterns of flower. Also, they used to color their finger nails and toes with black.

African style: Africans are fond of drawing some large geometry and bold characters. Most often, the most desired color is black.

And today’s style is much more different compared to the styles mentioned above. However, all the styles have something in common; they all use henna.

When it comes to different henna recipes, almost all the countries who used the substance use the same ingredients and recipe. All of the artists who use henna have the same basic ingredients; henna and water. However, another factor like temperature and timing has different measures in different countries.

In India, henna is soaked in water tor a few hours because they believed that the henna needs to be soaked carefully to get a rich color. Arabic style is somewhat different because they use just lukewarm water, but they leave the mixed henna for about 3 hours before using. In Africa, artists use lukewarm water and leave the mixture of henna under the sun until the time it will be used.

Today’s artists also have different style, some use lukewarm and leave the mixture for 6 long hours. Others just use cold water, but they will put the mixture in a microwave oven to make the particles of henna conducive for sensitive skin.

There are other remedies to eliminate underarm odor. The following are the natural antiperspirants:

1. Witch hazel: If wiped into the underarm, it totally eliminates the odor and preserve the freshness of the fragrance.

2. Apple cider vinegar: It also eliminates underarm odor just soaking a cotton ball and apply it rather than using deodorant. The smell of the vinegar will be gone in minutes.

3. Baking soda: Applying it to a dry underarm will absorb the odor and will kill bacteria. Or you can use cornstarch mixed with a little baking soda and apply the mixture in a dry underarm.

4. Drinking sage herb tea everyday will give long lasting, odor-free underarm. The tea does not give fragrance nor kill bacteria but it stops the production of sweat. Mix two tea bags with 1 teaspoon of dried sage, add hot water and you have the tea.

5. Turnip juice is also very effective in reducing and eliminating underarm odor. Just grate the turnip and squeeze until the juice comes out. Wash your underarm thoroughly and rub the juice of the turnip.

6. Eating wheat grass combined with water will help eliminate underarm odor naturally. Chlorophyll does the trick in this kind of remedy.

7. You can also dilute small amount of rosemary oil in a glass of water and use as natural and effective deodorant that will last for two days.

8. Radish juice mixed with 1/4 teaspoon glycerin is a good underarm deodorant with a long-lasting effect.

However, if you still want to use artificial deodorants or antiperspirants, make sure that the substances used will not react on your skin because there are those products that cause skin irritation that would often lead to some serious problems.

The Root Cause of Acne

The onset of puberty gives a drastic affect to the children. Just few days back they were sweet and happy; leading a care free life. But now they have turned to irritable, moody and raging teenager.
The blame of this behavioral change goes to the onset of puberty; as it is the time of the production of sex hormones. The production of hormones in some teenagers is accompanied by mood changes as well as acne. Whether a teenager will suffer from acne or not depends on various causes. The thing that has been determined is that it is these sex hormones that are the root cause of acne.
When the researchers come to set apart the sex hormone they discovered that Androgen is the particular hormone responsible for the breakout of acne. The Androgen is the male sex hormone. Then why the teenaged girls have the acne breakout? I know the immediate question in the mind of the reader. If the male hormone is the cause then why the female are also suffering from this ailment? It is a natural phenomenon that females produce both male and female sex hormones. So the teenaged girls also have acne because their bodies have the same male sex hormone. Studies have proved that teenagers who have higher levels of this male sex hormone in the bloodstream suffer more from acne breakout compared to the ones that have the lower levels of Androgen.
Now how the Androgen work to cause acne? It looks that body reacts to the production of the male sex hormones. Explaining it slightly more; in most of the teenagers, androgens trigger the sebaceous glands that are found in the follicles of the skin. The glands which are in the pores of the face, and sometimes on back and chest start producing larger quantities of oils as a reaction of the body which is producing excessive male hormones. If the pores are blocked with dirt or dead skin cells; the oil starts to pile up to form a pimple. This is the theory which is responsible for the formation of acne because of Androgen.
The belief that Androgens is the primary cause of acne is further supported with the fact that in many teenaged girls the birth control pills works to reduce the number of acne breakouts. This is even truer for the pills that are making up by combining progesterone (female hormones) and estrogen.
While the Androgens are given the responsibility of the formation of acne, there are some other causes responsible for the acne formation that must be avoided. These include unhealthy eating habits and diet. Scientists are also of the belief there is a genetic connection of acne as well. This means that if a person had acne as a teenager, the chances are that his children in their teenage will also suffer from the acne breakout.
But the good news for the teenagers and their parents is that acne fades away with the regulation of hormones when the teenagers steps into his adulthood. By that time the best is to wash the face at least twice a day and have patience!
